T
he Entlebucher Mountain Dog "Entle
"
is
n

. It
is the smallest of four
Swiss
mountain
dogs
.
They
are the Appenzell, Bernese, and the Greater Swiss. Personable
, smooth clean coat
and only bark out of concern
, the Entle is an
great
family pet. They get along with other animals and children, and are easy to care for. Breed to work
, they love to
pull carts and excell at herding. They
need work for metal a
s well as phyiscal
. This breed is not for those who like to leave home often, as they do not do well in the backyard or by themselves. They love
to be close to there human companions
and thrive off of it.
Th
ey
are easygoing, intelligent and very trainable. They are eager to serve and help out. Some owners say their Entle
s
enjoy heights, climbing atop their dog house, tables or whatever they can fin
d.
They love to swin in creeks, ponds or w
here ever they can find water but hate bath tubs.
They are very playful, and with proper training are well suited for children. Entle
s
need training and socialization from puppyhood, but once attained, do very well with others. They are protective, but not aggressive. They are a short, medium-sized breed with a muscled appearance. They have triangular drop ears, with a straight muzzle and a flat skull. Their eyes are dark brown, and their bodies resemble the appearance of a mastiff. Some
of the Entle
tails are naturally docked and some breeders choose to dock tails while others enjoy seeing the long black tail with a whisp of whi
t
e on the tip
.
Since our conception in May 2000, the EMDCA
has promoted and protected this amazing breed.
We will continue:
To provide educational programs for the public, future owners and breeders.
To help raise funds and promote medical research in an effort to eradicate genetic defects within the breed.
To maintain a breed club registry, and promote the American Kennel Club’s Foundation Stock Service registry of purebred Entlebuchers.
To breed quality dogs in accordance with the FCI (Federation Cynologic Internationale) breed standard.
To promote the best interests of the Entlebucher through participation in sporting events, dog shows, field trials and educational events, while always maintaining good sportsmanlike conduct.
To further expand and maintain an Entlebucher Rescue program.
To build a genetics database for use as a reference when selecting
potential Entlebuchers for breeding purposes.
